60 Second Muscle Relaxants vs Chiropractic
Your primary care physician recommends that you take muscle relaxants for your acute lower back pain. You don’t like the idea of taking medication. So, what else can you do?
Chiropractic treatment has been shown in multiple studies to be more successful in treating lower back pain than muscle relaxants.
A recent study published in Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics assembled a research team comprised of four chiropractors, two Ph.D.’s, and one MD. For the study, 190 patients experiencing lower back pain for 2-6 weeks were randomly placed in one of three groups – chiropractic with placebo medication, muscle relaxants with placebo adjustments, and placebo medication and placebo adjustments.
Those receiving chiropractic adjustments showed more relief from their lower back pain.
