Let a Superhero Battle Your Pain!

Disguised as a mild-mannered chiropractor, Dr. Charlene Thorburn has been battling pain, stress, muscle problems and illness for over 40 years! How did she get started? Well, here’s her story…

When she was a child, Dr. T as she is called by many of her patients, wanted to be either an artist or a nurse just like her mom. She initially began the path towards both ideals. But medicine won out and she went off to college and graduated with a degree in nursing. She began working in a major local hospital in critical care and emergency medicine.

There she was privileged to work alongside many different physicians, especially in the emergency room, where she learned about diagnosing and treating the ill and injured from many different viewpoints.

It was frustrating, though, because sometimes it seemed like they were only “patching people up” and not actually curing them.

She became curious about why people were getting ill and requiring the medication and surgeries that they so often performed. Why couldn’t people continue to stay well? It seemed to her that the body should be able to heal itself when given the right environment and nutrition.

This led her to begin looking into preventative care, and eventually to studying chiropractic. Here was something she could sink her teeth into — a means to prevent illness and disability, not just patch someone up after they became ill.

Dr. T is a certified as a Chiropractic Orthopedist as she did postgraduate training in the field of orthopedics. She also continued to study in many areas: carpal tunnel syndrome, nutrition, automobile accident injuries, x-ray, different treatment methods, deep muscle therapy and a variety of other subjects. It’s important to learn about a wide variety of things that help people get well. Combining education in traditional and alternative healing arts allows her to discover underlying reasons for a person’s health problem and choose a treatment plan based on both practices.

Dr. T feels that it is an honor to be able to help people feel great and find better health without drugs or surgery. Every patient is important to her and she applies all her skills to help each person get well and stay healthy.
