Are You Suffering From Stress & Anxiety?
The World Health Organization has dubbed stress the “health epidemic of the 21st Century.” As a chiropractor, for so many years I have been studying the significant toll that trauma, toxins, and unhealthy lifestyle can take on the body and spirit.
One of the most common complaints I hear from my patients is a lack of energy and general fatigue. We live in a very high-stress environment today, and many people are suffering from the early stages of adrenal exhaustion.
The adrenal glands are small glands located on top of each kidney that produce hormones that you can’t live without, including cortisol, which helps you to respond to stress and has many other important functions.
The typical person with early adrenal exhaustion experiences episodes of frequent fatigue despite partaking in exercise, adding more sleep, and making dietary improvements. As the adrenals fatigue, anxiety and depression can follow.
Adrenal fatigue will often begin after severe trauma. A sudden job loss or drop in income can be a major stressor. People with adrenal fatigue often report a loss of motivation and decreased the ability to work or handle stress at work. Life situations may lead to this type of exhaustion, including stressful home life, a history of substance abuse, repeated illnesses, and frequent or prolonged respiratory infections including colds, flu, pneumonia or bronchitis.
A simple in-office screening can detect the early stages of adrenal fatigue. We can work with you to create a healing nutritional program that includes supplements which will support the repair of the adrenal glands. Results have been very good with this approach, with my patients reporting that they sleep deeper and wake more refreshed, their energy and mood improve, and they no longer seek relief from unrelenting fatigue.
