Stop the Attack!

Stop the Attack!

Summer is ending, and we’re heading into fall. You’re sneezing and sniffling all day and into the night.

What’s going on?

Odds are you’re among the up to 30% of Americans who suffer from hay fever, or allergic rhinitis. Most cases of hay fever are caused by an allergy to fall pollen from plants belonging to the genus Ambrosia — more commonly known as ragweed. Pollen from trees and other plants are also known culprits.  And with the dryness caused by California’s record drought, we’re all in for a larger dose than usual.

Allergies occur when the body’s immune system mounts a vigorous response to a foreign substance — in this case, tiny grains of pollen. Specialized immune cells start churning out antibodies to proteins in the pollen. The ensuing cascade of biochemical reactions floods the bloodstream with histamine, a compound that causes all-too-familiar allergy symptoms.

In addition to sneezing, sniffling, nasal congestion, and sleep disruption, allergies can cause red, puffy eyes, itchy throat, and even hives.

Most over-the-counter and prescription allergy medications do little more than mask the symptoms, drying out sinuses with potential side effect that include fatigue, high blood pressure and more.

So how can you stop the attack?

At Thorburn Chiropractic and Wellness Center, we carry and recommend Standard Process, a whole food nutritional supplement line that features specific products to help your body defend itself against allergy season. These products are only available through doctors.

Through October 15, 2018, we are offering 20% off all of our allergy products, including Allerplex, Antronex, Congaplex, Immuplex and Thymex. Let’s talk about natural alternatives to your specific allergy issues during your next appointment.
