Dr. Ts Tip, Vitamin B and Eye Health – Chiropractor Burbank Ca
Greetings to you from Dr. Thorburn,
A study from Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston reports that a mixture of B vitamins reduced by one-third the chance of middle-aged women developing macular degeneration. Macular degeneration is a breakdown of the macular, the back wall of the eye, which causes a gradual loss of vision due to deterioration of nerve tissue.
The study involved more than 5,000 women aged 40 and older. The research suggests that the use of B vitamins is another tool, in addition to quitting smoking, to help prevent age-related macular degeneration.
My personal recommendation is that our extra B vitamins come from food-based supplements rather than the synthetic vitamins usually sold in stores. Toxicity from synthetic B vitamins can include nerve damage, headaches and fatigue.
Foods naturally high in the B’s include dark green leafy vegetables, other fresh fruits and vegetables, most nuts, whole grains, fish, turkey and other proteins.
