How to Save a Life

In light of the staggering U.S. opioid epidemic, I am joining with Chiropractors around the country during the October celebration of National Chiropractic Health Month to raise the awareness of drug-free pain relief alternatives through Chiropractic.

Statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show that as many as one in four patients who receive prescription opioids long-term for non-cancer pain in primary care settings struggle with addiction. In 2016, drug overdoses killed 63,632 Americans, and nearly two-thirds of these deaths (66%) involved a prescription or illicit opioid. And, more than 11.5 million Americans reported misusing prescription opioid. Today, most people have a friend, family member, or loved one who has wrestled with addiction to prescription painkillers.

Is Chiropractic How to Save a Life?

Chiropractic is an important, effective and natural first line of defense against pain. In some cases, Chiropractic care may eliminate the need for over-the-counter and prescription painkillers. It is vital that patients who are in pain are made aware that they have drug-free pain management options.

Many respected healthcare organizations now recommend drug-free pain management treatment. The CDC’s new Guidelines for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain encourage medical doctors to utilize conservative care and to consider non-addictive alternative options.

Using treatments such as spinal manipulation, Chiropractic takes a drug-free approach to treating conditions such as back pain, neck pain, leg pain, and sciatica. Research has found spinal manipulation to be effective and safe. Pain management and Chiropractic care have proven to be a perfect, drug-free option.

Depending upon your particular condition and needs, Chiropractic treatment can be combined with medical massage and acupuncture for a drug-free pain management program. If you or a loved one is suffering from chronic or acute pain, please give us a call and make an appointment. You will be glad you did.
